CNA Test Prep
The CNA Test:If you’re interested in a career as a nursing assistant, or nurse aide, then you will need to pass the CNA test in your state. CNA stands for Certified Nursing Assistant, a position that is in high demand in the rapidly growing medical field. Becoming a Nursing Assistant or Nurse Aide is a great entry level career. You do not need to have a high school diploma or any special qualifications. You just need to take CNA classes and pass the CNA exam.
Every state can set their own regulations for CNA certification, but many states use common standards and similar tests. The most commonly used set of standards is the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program, which is also known as the NNAAP. Over 20 states use this certification program, including California, Colorado, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington. Some states use a certification program from Diversified Technologies including Arizona, Tennessee, Oregon, and Ohio. While other states such as Florida, Michigan and New York use the Prometric program.
While the focus of these state tests may be slightly different from one state to another, the overall topics are very similar. You will need to know about medical safety, infection control, resident’s rights, mental health, personal care, communication, data collection, disease process, older adult growth, basic nursing skills, and the role and responsibility of a nursing assistant. Our online practice tests are based on the NNAAP standards, but they cover virtually all of the topics needed for any state CNA exam.
To prepare for your test, you should work through as many CNA Practice Tests as possible. The more CNA test questions that you have seen, the better prepared you will be. Getting a good CNA study guide is also recommended for additional content review and for more practice questions. For more detailed information check out our guide on How to Become a CNA. Good luck with your new career!
